What To Know Before You Fly

​​Firearm and Ammunition Transport

​

  • Eligibility: You must be over 18 years old to travel with firearms and ammunition, including pellet and BB guns, in your checked baggage.

​​

  • Check-In Process: Declare the firearms and ammunition when checking in with an agent.

 

Firearm Requirements

​

  • Status: Firearms must be unloaded.

​​

  • Container: Firearms should be stored in a locked, hard-sided container that makes them completely inaccessible. Rifle cases require locks on both ends.

Ammunition Requirements

​

  • Packaging: Ammunition must be in the original packaging from the manufacturer or in packaging specifically designed for small amounts of ammunition. Acceptable packaging materials include fiber, wood, or metal.

  • Weight Limit: Each container or customer is limited to a maximum of 11 pounds (5 kg) of ammunition. Loose ammunition or ammunition stored in magazines or clips is not accepted.
